LADY HURRICANES GROW PROGRAM
After just one season of being affiliated with the Raleigh Youth Hockey Association (RYHA), the need for another competitive women's hockey team in the Carolinas has become apparent. To meet this need, the Carolina Lady Hurricanes have resurrected their Carolina Aces counterpart! Competing in USA Hockey's C Division, the Carolina Aces will be the partner team to the Carolina Lady Hurricanes. The 17 woman roster already has 13 skaters and 1 goalie signed for the 2018-19 season. We are extremely excited to see how both teams compete this season.

CAROLINA ACES BECOME LADY HURRICANES
The Carolina Aces have teamed up with RYHA to become the Carolina Lady Hurricanes!
The Raleigh Youth Hockey Association continues to be a southern hockey powerhouse with the addition of a women’s team. After 6 successful seasons under USA Hockey’s Southeastern District, the Carolina Aces have reached an affiliation agreement with RYHA to become the Carolina Lady Hurricanes. With the amount of female hockey players significantly increasing each year, RYHA continues to grow the game with the addition of yet another team.
The Carolina Aces have medaled in 4 out of 6 National Championships entered. From 2011-2014, the Aces were known as the “Tri-City Selects”. In that time, the Selects competed under USA Hockey’s Women’s C Division and took home a silver in 2012, bronze in 2013, and gold in 2014. After winning the gold, the Selects made the move up to the B Division, also changing their name to the “Carolina Aces”. With the difficult transition to the highly competitive B Division, the Aces went on to earn a silver medal at the 2016 National Championships.
The Carolina Lady Hurricanes is the sole women’s team representing the Carolina Amateur Hockey Association. For the 2017-18 season, the schedule reflects their passion for seeking out competition. The team will travel to tournaments in Virginia, North Carolina, Ohio, and New York. As in past seasons, they will also scrimmage against Liberty University. The Lady Canes look to finish off their season with the 2018 USA Hockey National Championships.
The Carolina Lady Hurricanes are committed to their continued effort to give back to the community that has given them so much. Multiple team members will be assisting with the RYHA girl’s teams as volunteers throughout the 2017-18 season. The Lady Canes aim to contribute to the association’s core values by developing youth female hockey players’ skills and providing additional competitive playing opportunities through scrimmages.
This affiliation between the Carolina Lady Hurricanes and the Raleigh Youth Hockey Association shows the continued devotion to the growth of female hockey.
